What’s your favourite fun activity to do with your clients?
“I like having conversations with them about their personal goals and dreams, and I try to give supportive advice. Especially to the younger clients.”
Damien’s dedication to helping clients reach their potential shows in every conversation he has, making a real difference in their lives, especially for younger clients who are seeking guidance and support.
A goal you’re currently working on with one of your clients?
“There’s this client who always seems to have issues with the police. I’ve made him understand that his personal actions are the reason the police always get involved. We have a goal not to be involved in any ‘police issue’ for the next year.”
This highlights Damien’s commitment to long-term positive change. His patient approach and clear communication help his clients recognize their own power to shape their futures, offering them the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.
The best way to wind down after a long shift?
“Get home, eat, watch a movie, and sometimes fall asleep on the sofa.”
Like many of us, Damien knows the value of taking time to relax and recharge after a demanding day. His simple, comforting routine helps him find balance.
A TV show you’re currently binge-watching?
“Emily in Paris.”
Even in his downtime, Damien enjoys some light-hearted entertainment with a show that’s become a global sensation.
Your idea of a perfect meal?
“On shift: a 3-piece box order from KFC. At home: Fried rice, avocado, fried turkey, a cup of juice, and a cup of water.”
Damien’s meal choices reflect his practical nature, whether it’s a quick bite on the job or a more thoughtful, balanced meal at home.
A piece of advice you’d give to an aspiring support worker?
“Work the same when alone as when with other staff or your manager.”
